WHY AN ARCHITECT?
The porch in late afternoon.
A new porch that faces the street and gives the house a view to the ocean.
The steps were designed to give a place to sit and look out to the street.
The porch now gives the house a view to the ocean and a new covered place to relax and socialize.
The first gathering on the porch.
Before.

Little Beach,
Gearhart
Biddle Beach House
The historic beach house had been in the family for generations, a classic early 1900's Gearhart shingle style house, with many bedrooms and natural wood on all surfaces in the living and dining room.
But, there was no view of the ocean from the first floor, few ocean breezes coming into the house, and no outdoor living area. In short, this was a great house that really would be much better with a covered porch on the front. Better for aesthetics, better for entry to the house, better for the street, better for entertaining or just sitting and reading a book. The porch was designed to respect the historic details, and make the house inviting from the street. The completed porch has dramatically changed how the house works, and get togethers on the porch are a new family favorite.
